Oracle Lifetime Support Policy
Oracle products generally commence with a 5 year support period from the time it is released for public. Thereafter, clients usually have the option of subscribing to Extended Services up to a maximum of 3 additional years. Otherwise or after Extended Services, the product will move into Sustaining Support. See below for details.

Key Updates:
- Business Intelligence 9.3.X Premier Support ended Jan 2012 with no option for Extended Support
- Oracle|Hyperion EPM version 11.1.1.X Premier Support ended July 2013 with no option for Extended Support (note: this includes EPM version 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.1.4)
- Oracle|Hyperion EPM version 11.1.2.X Premier Support ends April 2018 with option for Extended Support till December 2021
- Confirmed that Oracle|Hyperion EPM version 11.1.1.4 can migrate onto11.1.2.1, 11.1.2.2, and 11.1.2.3 using migration tools
- Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) officially launched as "Generally Available" in February 2014. Click here for details.

Premier Support
Premier Support provides clients with maintenance and support for Oracle Fusion Middleware products for five years from their general availability date. Benefits are:
- Major product and technology releases
- Technical support
- Access to My Oracle Support
- Updates, fixes, security alerts, data fixes, and critical patch updates
- Tax, legal, and regulatory updates
- Upgrade scripts
- Certification with most new third-party products/versions
- Certification with most new Oracle products
Extended Support
Extended Support provides clients with an extra three years of support for specific Oracle releases for an additional fee. Benefits are:
- Major product and technology releases
- Technical support
- Access to My Oracle Support
- Updates, fixes, security alerts, data fixes, and critical patch updates
- Tax, legal, and regulatory updates
- Upgrade scripts
- Certification with most existing third-party products/versions
- Certification with most existing Oracle products
Extended Support may not include certification with some new third-party products/versions.
Sustaining Support
When Premier Support expires, if clients choose not to purchase Extended Support, or when Extended Support expires, Sustaining Support will be available for as long as the license for the client Oracle products (as extended through paying annual maintenance and support fees). Benefits are:
- Major product and technology releases
- Technical support
- Access to My Oracle Support
- Fixes, updates, and critical patch updates created during the Premier Support stage
- Upgrade scripts created during the Premier Support stage
Sustaining Support does not include:
- New updates, fixes, security alerts, data fixes, and critical patch updates
- New tax, legal, and regulatory updates
- New upgrade scripts
- Certification with new third-party products/versions
- Certification with new Oracle products
Essentially, under Sustaining Support, Oracle and its partners will continue to provide troubleshoot and technical support on best efforts basis but are limited to the extent that the issues have not been previously reported (i.e., no new fixes will be created).

ADDED: After January 1, 2013, Oracle Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in will no longer be available for general distribution with new releases of Oracle Essbase. Click here to see details.
Release 11.1.2.1.102 of Smart View contained additional functionality that has made it essentially equivalent to Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in (some minor exceptions).
